About the Event
A handful of fascinating creatures once inhabited the Catskill Mountain region, but have disappeared over the last three centuries. Join Justin Wexler, educator at Wild Hudson Valley, for a presentation and guided walk to learn about these animals, their impact on local ecosystems, and their role in indigenous folklore and land use.
This event is FREE and takes place at Woodchuck Lodge, 1633 Burroughs Memorial Road, Roxbury, NY 12474. All are welcome.
About the site: Woodchuck Lodge is the historic summer home of John Burroughs, America’s most prominent and adored naturalist-essayist. Free, guided tours of Woodchuck Lodge will be offered from 11am to 3pm. Burroughs Memorial Field, the author's burial site, is open year round, dawn to dusk, and is just up the road from the Lodge.
